Preparing for our Thanksgiving Feast

In preparation for our feast tomorrow, we joined Mr. Stahl's class to make some applesauce and butter. Students were eager to help out and had some very interesting ideas on how the apples turned into applesauce (chainsaws and hammers were mentioned!)

First, we started with some apples. Students dumped the apples into the crockpot. 

Then, we added cinnamon...

and lemon juice.

We stirred the ingredients and let them cook. 

Time for butter... 

We added heavy cream, a pinch of salt and a marble into a jar. 

Then, we shook with all our might! 

(We were even able to practice our counting at this time,

since each helper got to shake for 20 seconds!)

When we were finished, we put our applesauce and butter into the refrigerator to cool. 

I know we are anxious to taste both of these tomorrow!
